Having recently moved to East Sussex after 19 years in London, I quickly saw that the move was just one small part of a much bigger transformation going on within me. When so much is shifting, it can be very disorienting. Life is growing us inside and out. As challenging as it’s been this time round, I remember times when I did not understand much about the process of transformation, and how frightening I found it back then. This is what I would have liked to have known at the time:
1-Understanding that you are in transformation
When caterpillar undergoes it’s mutation, it radically deconstructs itself to become something new. For us it is the same. Transformation can mean letting go of all we’ve known ourselves to be, and moving into the unknown. We may suddenly feel disconnected from jobs, partners, and even from ourselves. We may feel very unsure about where our life is going. Wayne Dyer writes ‘transformation quite literally means going beyond our form.’ It is a process of moving from one level of being to another.
2-Letting it be
Detachment is a very profound practice of unconditional love. It is an attitude on non-judgement and allowing things to be as they are. When we are detached, we are able to leave space for what is happening. Gaston Saint Pierre, the founder of the Metamorphic Technique used to define the practice as:
-Noticing the facts
-Letting them be
This could be translated as “ I feel uncomfortable, uncertain. I acknowledge these feelings, but I let them be.’ Life is doing exactly what it needs to do to transform you.
When we are able to trust life it makes a massive difference in how we experience our own transformation. Knowing that life will always grow us towards our greatest potential and fulfillment, we can keep out of the way and let it unfold. The bumps that can accompany personal transformation do not rock us as deeply. There is an innate understanding that life knows where to take us and how to shape us into what wants to come through next.
4-Letting go of resistance
Life will always grow us when we keep out of our own way. Any resistance we put up will stop the flow of life within us. Resistance creates more pain and discomfort. Imagine catterpillar not wanting to become butterfly. When we keep out of the way, life can do it’s thing. We don’t need to know how or why, we just have to allow that movement to unfold. This means allowing uncertainty, fear or discomfort. It means trusting, being open, curious, and leaving space for the growth that is happening.
We are all in transformation now
The shift of December 21, 2012 was not the end of the world, but perhaps as in the R.E.M song ‘the end of the world as we know it.’ The Mayan Calendar marked the end of one celestial era and the beginning of a new one. Here in the era of the heart, the new energies are urging us to transform from the ego driven, mind centred people of the old era, into the new people that we can be: heart centred, community loving beings with greater awareness than before. What this means for each one of us is a transformation no less dramatic than catterpillars deconstruction and resurrection as butterfly.
For some this will be bumpy and uncomfortable, for others less so. We each have our own path and our own way of transforming. Transformation is a part of life. Understanding and trusting the process will change your experience of it. Just remember you are not alone. The whole of humanity is going through it right now, along with you.
Metamorphic Touch in times of transformation
Metamorphic Touch is gentle stroking which catalyses the transformational power of your own life force. For years it has been used by people going though deep personal transformation, or when they feel stuck. What we notice is how, after workshops, many people seem to shift very quickly and get on track with their life. Often they step out of one groove and into another, into a life that feels more aligned to who they want to be. I’ve witnessed people change careers within a week of a workshop, find a partner, resolve health issues and grow in confidence. The important things to understand is that none of these amazing changes come from the technique itself, but rather from the person’s own life force, guided by their own inner knowing as to what is needed to grow in them at that time.
’I still don’t know exactly how the Metamorphic Technique works, apart from the fact that it has transformed me! It has changed me from someone who was fearful of life to someone who’s embracing it.” Des Hamilton, Evening Standard
In 2004, I began training in Metamorphic Technique with it's founder, Gaston Saint-Pierre. I became a practitioner, then a teacher in 2006, which led me to run workshops all around the world. I then created Sacred Life Alchemy, the Co-Create with the Field Manifesting Process, and Heart Listening, three profound healing systems to transform your reality into more of what you want. In 2017, I renamed my teaching Metamorphic Touch to reflect the new insights and perspectives I bring to this approach. Metamorphic Touch is a powerful healing modality to transform your life.
